THE UNSEEN STORY OF YOUR LIFE

Many different metaphors have been used to describe life.  Rick Warren in his bestselling book "The Purpose Driven Life" named a few of the metaphor's people use, then settled on three from the Word of God,  "Life is a test, life is a trust, and life is a temporary assignment."  Certainly these are true, but I would also add that our lives are a great story that is being written by God in which we play a major part.  The story of your life is a story in which you are tested, given a trust and is only a "temporary assignment" to prepare you for your eternal home.  The problem is as John Eldredge says, "For most of us, life feels like a movie we've arrived at forty-five minutes late.  Something important seems to be going on maybe."  It is like we are part of a cosmic drama in which we are at the mercy of the villain in the story.  Perhaps you feel like you are always being attacked and there is no one who will protect or fight for you?  You are not alone, many feel this way, even Christians... No, especially Christians!  Let me ask another question, does this resonate with you?  If it does, read on...

In this section we take a look at the stories we read and movies we watch and look at them from a different perspective.  We consider that they may in fact be more than fiction... they are a parallel of the story of our lives.  In his book "Wild at Heart" John Eldredge explores this idea.  Using examples from old and contemporary stories he delves into the deep spiritual meaning behind them and shows us how we can use them to understand our lives better.  Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 4:18 that we are to pay attention to the "unseen" [world] because it in fact more real than the "seen" [world].  Paul is warning us to be careful of paying less attention to the spiritual world than the "seen" world, because "unseen" is where the real battles are being fought.  When we consider the stories we loved as children and those we enjoy as adults from this perspective we get a glimpse of the "unseen" or spiritual world that Paul speaks of.  Here at Rescued Heart Ministries we feel it is important to pay attention to the messages contained in these stories and to understand what God wants to communicate to us through them.  Remember, our earthbound life is only a "temporary assignment" in which we are preparing for our eternal and final spiritual home!
